Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 September 2026
This policy explains what happens to your personal information when you visit linguaplans.com, buy a resource, or join the mailing list. Linguaplans is a small independent business, not a data broker, and the short version is that I collect the minimum needed to sell you a file and send you the emails you asked for.
Who is responsible for your data
Linguaplans (“I”, “me”) is the data controller for information collected through this site. [ADD: your trading name, business address and the country you operate from — this is legally required in most jurisdictions.] You can reach me any time through the contact page.
What I collect, and why
When you buy something
Your name, email address, billing address and country, and the details of what you ordered. This is processed through WooCommerce and stored in this site’s database. I need it to give you access to your files, to send order confirmations, and to meet tax and accounting obligations.
Card and payment details never touch this site. Payments are handled by PayPal and by WooPayments (Stripe), who act as independent controllers of the payment data you give them. Their own privacy policies govern that information.
When you join the mailing list
Your email address, and a first name if you give one. It is used to send the free lessons you requested and the newsletter. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list rather than pausing you.
When you send a message
Whatever you put in the contact form, which reaches me by email and is kept only as long as the conversation is useful.
When you simply visit
The site uses Google Analytics, connected through the Google Site Kit plugin, to count visits and see which pages are read. Server logs record IP addresses for security and troubleshooting. Comment spam is filtered by Akismet, which inspects submitted comments and form data.
Cookies
This site sets cookies for three things: keeping items in your basket and you signed in, remembering your cookie preferences, and analytics. You can refuse the analytics cookies without losing the ability to buy anything, and you can clear all of them in your browser settings at any time.
Why I am allowed to hold it
Under the UK and EU GDPR, the lawful bases are: contract, for everything needed to complete and deliver your order; consent, for the mailing list and for analytics cookies; legal obligation, for keeping transaction records; and legitimate interests, for keeping the site secure and working.
Who else sees it
Only the services that make the site run: the web host, the payment providers named above, the email service that delivers the newsletter and order emails, and Google Analytics. None of them are permitted to use your information for their own marketing, and I do not sell, rent or trade personal data to anyone, for any price.
Some of these providers operate outside your country, so your data may be transferred internationally. Where that happens it is covered by the providers’ standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
How long it is kept
Order records are kept for as long as tax law requires, which is typically six to seven years. Mailing list entries are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact form messages are deleted once they are no longer relevant. Analytics data follows Google’s own retention settings.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, object to how it is used, or ask for it in a portable format. Write to me through the contact page and I will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EU and think I have handled your data badly, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This site sells professional materials to teachers and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top will change and, where the change is significant, I will say so in the newsletter.
